Sustainable retro-fitting programme in development

A green transformation of Britain’s homes will take place over the next decade under the Warm Homes, Greener Homes Strategy set out by the government – with the aim of making them more comfortable, warmer and cheaper to run.

With around one quarter of UK emissions coming from energy used in homes the Warm Homes, Greener Homes Strategy is aimed at cutting emissions from the UK’s homes by 29% by 2020. About 700,000 properties per year (across all sectors) will need to be retrofitted to make them more energy efficient.  Unless the government addresses the present skills deficit in low carbon energy, this target represents a significant challenge for the sector to achieve.

In response to the strategy, Fusion21 is currently working with PfH on a sustainable retro-fit model incorporating the supply and fit of building materials, skills, jobs and resident training.

Fusion21 Chief Executive Dave Neilson commented “By working together we are looking to raise awareness in the sector of this issued faced by the challenge, both Fusion21 and PfH have a proven track record in delivering complex programmes. ”

“Strategic alliances like our collaborative work with PfH are key if we are to meet the retrofit challenge that lies ahead. By combining our skills and expertise in the field we are investing in programmes together so that individual organisations don’t have to.”
